Legislation requiring the Michigan Tax Tribunal to use all available methods for determining the True Cash Value of property will likely die in the State Senate.
House Bill 5578 received strong support in the House when it passed 97-11 on June 8th. Since that time, members of the Senate Finance Committee have not taken action. This means the process of getting legislation passed to close the “dark store” loophole will need to start over when the new legislature is seated in January. Please contact your State Senator to let them know your thoughts on this issue.
